Nomeado de Os 500 melhores álbuns de todos os tempos, o ranking deu espaço a novos artistas e teve mudanças na parte mais alta, incluindo a primeira colocação. Outro fator interessante da nova lista foi o de trabalhos importantes dos anos 2000 e 2010 conquistando posições no topo da lista, tendo Beyoncé, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar e Jay-Z no top-50. A lista é agora encabeçada por What's going on, do cantor Marvin Gaye. O álbum de 1971 era o sexto colocado da primeira edição do ranking lançado em 2003. Quem perdeu o lugar no topo foi Sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts club band, disco seminal dos Beatles. A banda formada por John, Paul, George e Ringo perdeu muito espaço. Antes com três álbuns no top-5, agora o grupo de Liverpool tem apenas o 5º lugar com Abbey road. Sgt. Pepper's, líder na primeira lista, amarga a 24ª colocação.
